I’m a mum and wife, living and working in London and, as you’ve probably guessed, I love charity shops. Whether browsing, purchasing or donating, the thrift shop experience suits me down to the ground.

Here’s why: I love shopping for clothes, but don’t have a huge budget; I love to de-clutter and the feeling of being free of ‘stuff’ (I actually have a, what some people might call ‘obsessive’, one-in-one-out policy on my wardrobe … and now on my daughter’s wardrobe); I love that my money and donations are going to a good cause; I love creativity and I hate waste.

mycharityshoplife is my way of showing why I love charity retail, and hopefully I can recruit some converts along the way. Charity shopping can fit in with busy lifestyles and there may be aspects you haven’t thought about.

I am also a huge fan of vintage fashion, ethical and sustainable fashion, and the ‘make do and mend’ mentality.

I will show you purchases and outfits (and the stories behind them), fashion news from the sector and some of my donations and tell you why I am parting with them.

Hope you like it! If you do, please spread the word.

  1. I love your ethos and how happy your hunt for bargains can make us feel. Having recently become manager of a charity shop in Derbyshire I was surprised to find we still don’t have enough younger people shopping with us. I’m spreading the word and love your blogs thank you Kim

  2. Hi Susan, I have just found your blog and it is refreshing to see another mum blogger with a love of the charity shops. I’m a Canadian expat living in London and sometimes I can’t imagine how I got on before I discovered the UK charity shops or what I would do if I had to leave them behind.
    Happy treasure hunting, Sarah
